May 25 [Important] Notice of changes in the manufacturing field specified skill No. 1 evaluation test was announced.

The following points have been changed from the Manufacturing Field Specified Skilled Worker No. 1 Evaluation Test in Reiwa 5.

1. Change of examination category
- Consolidate the business categories in the manufacturing industry from 19 to 3
- The exam is conducted by paper test method

2. Change of test time
- Changed from 60 minutes for academics and 60 minutes for practical skills to 80 minutes for both academic and practical skills

3. Language change for overseas exams
- Change exam language to Japanese

4. Revision of Examination Fees and Fees for Issuance of Pass Certificates
- Exam fee changed from 2,000 yen to 8,000 yen
- Pass certificate issuance fee changed to 15,000 yen *The new fee will apply from July 1, 2023 onwards

Successful applicants in 2022 or earlier will also be required to pay the certificate issuance fee if they apply (including reissuance) after July 1, 2023.
